Life After Death Experience

I want to tell you a true story of something that happened to me when I was six years old, and I still remember it like it happened yesterday. My life after death experience is a little challenging for me to tell, especially here on the internet for the world to see.

I know most people who have never had a death experience have a fear of dying. So this is why I feel the need to share my story with others, in hopes of it helping someone else. In their journey of this life, we live and the afterlife to ease their minds.

First A Little Background About Myself

Before I get into the story of my death experience, here is a little background information for those who don’t know me personally. I am the youngest out of seven children and have three brothers and three sisters.

All of my brothers and sisters were born in Indian River, Florida. I was born in Albion, New York. My father left when I was a year old. So, we were raised by a single parent and moved to Ellijay, Ga. When I was around three years old, we came here on a bus.

For those familiar with East Ellijay, we lived in a house across from West Block where Hwy. 515 is now. My mom got a job close by at the Chicken Plant because we didn’t have a car so, she walked to work.

She had to work to provide for us kids, so we walked to school every morning where the FoodLion is now, and we would walk to church at East Ellijay Baptist Church on Sunday mornings. We didn’t have much but what we did have was a sense of obligation to help take care of one another.

Let’s move forward now to when I was six years old and how my life changed forever. We were still living in the house across from West Block; when I had my death experience.

My Life After Death Experience

My story began in the summer of 1970. It was a hot, wet summer, and it seemed to be raining every day. We didn’t have any airconditioning to cool off with, so my siblings and I would go down to the Cartecay River to cool off at the swimming hole. After all, the river was straight across from the house.

Now, I didn’t know how to swim. But usually, my brothers or sisters were with me or some of the other neighborhood kids. The river wasn’t over my head under normal circumstances but, it had been raining a lot. It would come up to my bottom lip at the deepest point. Well, on this particular summer day, it had finally stopped raining.

When school let out on this particular sunny afternoon, instead of walking home with my family, I ran straight down to the river and jumped right out into the middle. Except for this time, because of all the rain, the river was up. And it was over my head so, I went under and got strangled.

I couldn’t scream for help because of choking on the water in my lungs. So in a fearful panic. I fought with every fiber of my being to stay on top of the water. But I knew, at that moment, I was going to die. And before I went under for the last time, I surrendered my life over to God.

What happened next was extraordinary. As I watched my body lying on the bottom of the river being dragged away by the river’s current, a warm, loving peace washed over me as I had never felt before. It permeated all around me.

I opened my eyes to see, and I was sitting in this magnificent field with mountains all around me. As I sit there looking around, I started seeing images; of the universe and how every living thing is connected. All the while this was going on, I could feel God’s loving embrace. I felt so alive!

Then God spoke to me and told me I had to get up that it wasn’t yet my time. I remember telling Him that I was ready and that I didn’t want to go back I wanted to stay with Him. He then repeated to me that it is not yet your time and to get up.

At that moment, I felt myself being pulled back down to my body lying on the bottom of the river. When I got back inside my body, I rolled over to my stomach and crawled out of that river on my hands and knees. I lay there on the river bank for a pretty good while coughing up the water that had filled my lungs and thinking; about everything I had experienced before I walked home.

I never told my family about any of my experiences until I was in my forties. I started telling some of my closest personal friends in my later teenage years some of what I experienced. There are only two or three people who know the whole story. And I am still debating on sharing it all now.

How To Deal With The Fear Of Dying

I want to start by saying I can’t speak for everyone who has had a death experience. I can only speak for myself and my experiences growing up. When you have been touched by God the way I was, you come back a little different; in terms of how you think about life and a few other things.

  • For instance, you no longer look at or fear death the same way as before because you know what is waiting for you on the other side; You kind of look forward to when it is your time.
  • You know that this world; we are all living on is not the world we belong to and that we are here temporarily to learn and grow as a spiritual being so as not to contaminate our Heavenly World with our limited way of thinking.
  • When someone you know dies, for instance, one of my brothers passed away. Yes, you are still sad. But you know you will see them again and that they are going to a wonderful; place. It makes you almost envious of that person.
  • I am in no hurry to die again but, at the same time, I know I am ready whenever God says my time is up here. I get sick of all the Evil I see going on in this world. None of it exists in the world; I experienced and had to leave behind.

I could go on but, I don’t want to get distracted or off-topic. As I mentioned above, you do come back a little different; or at least I did. When I came back, I was empathic, I was able to see spirits, and I also have Premonitions of things, which will happen.

What Is An Empathic Person?

I became empathic to the point that not only could I feel people’s emotions, but I can sometimes read people’s thoughts before they speak. For example, someone could walk up to me and start to ask a question, and I would answer them before they even said anything.

I didn’t realize I was doing it in the beginning until it would freak someone out. They would be like, how did you know what I was going to ask you? And my response was I just did. I couldn’t explain to them how I knew.

I have learned over the years that even if I know what a person is going to say, let them say it; so I don’t freak them out. But I still find myself getting impatient with people, especially; if it is a long story when I already know the ending.

I was dating a woman several years ago that I shared my story with and the things I could do who thought it was the coolest thing. She thought of it like it was a game, even though I never thought of it in that way.

She used to drive me crazy, asking me if I knew what she was thinking about now. It wasn’t long before I wished I had never told her about my experiences.

Why Do I Have Premonitions?

The only thing I can come up with why I have premonitions; is because of my drowning and what I experienced on a spiritual level. I don’t ever remember having them before I drowned.

When I first started having these premonitions years ago. I started wondering if I was causing this stuff to happen in some way. But they were so random, and I didn’t have any control over when they would happen.

Having a Premonition is a weird thing, or at least the ones I have had are. It is really like that movie Final Destination. You can be talking to someone, and all of a sudden it’s like someone turned a television screen on, right before your eyes.

You are watching this movie play out in front of you, and in my experiences, it usually came true within five or ten minutes in real-time. On one such occasion, my best friend happened to be with me while I was having one.

My best friend Randy and I were sitting in the parking lot across from the Dairy Queen one night after work talking. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, I saw the Red light on the Hwy. 282 side fall and hit the ground. But when I looked up at the Red light, it was fine.

I looked over at Randy and said that Red light is fixing to fall. He looked at me like I was crazy. Five minutes later, it hit the ground. He looked at me with this bewildered look on his face and asked me how I knew? I told him I saw it in a Premonition; and that I couldn’t explain it any better.

The people who know me; know who I am talking about when I say my best friend Randy because we have been friends for over 30 years.

He is one of the only people that knows the whole story I am relating to you now. And can testify to what I am saying is the truth because he has witnessed several of these instances with me over the years.

Awakening To The Spirit World

After my drowning incident, I started seeing spirits every day of my life up until I was 26 years old. Beginning from the time I was six years old, I prayed every night for God to take this away from me. I didn’t want to see spirits.

Finally, one night after my usual prayer, God spoke to me just like he did the day I drowned. He said, in a clear voice I can take this away from you, but someday you may want it back.

I can still see spirits on occasion but, it isn’t an everyday occurrence. I mostly now feel their presence. As I said before, Randy got to witness a lot of things by being around me.

I bought a Honda Civic hatchback years ago from the C&D Bodyshop for those of you who remember. Undoubtedly the car must have been in a wreck, and a woman must have died in the car.

One night Randy and I were riding around the old Penland road in my car when I looked in the rearview mirror, and I saw this lady’s face in the hatchback window. I turned around in my seat without saying anything to Randy to look, and she was gone.

A few minutes later, she reappeared in my mirror, and when I turned around to look, she was gone again. The third time it happened, instead of turning around to look, I said to Randy; look in the back and see if you see anything.

He let out a scream and a few cuss words and demanded I pull this car over now and let him out. It took me a little while to calm him down and get him back into the car. I think that was his first experience in ever seeing a spirit.

I need to explain to everyone why I prayed to God to take this away from me. It wasn’t because I was afraid of the spirits I was seeing. They never bothered me or tried to cause me any harm. Most of the time, they looked lost and confused.

Religious Programming

I asked God to take these spirits away from me because of what I had learned to believe growing up in a church. I was taught in church that you were supposed to stay away from psychics, soothsayers, fortune tellers, and mediums because they were evil.

So my understanding from a six-year-old child’s point of view was that I must be evil because of all the things I could see and do, and I didn’t want to be Evil. So that was my prayer from the time I was six until I was 26. Lord, please take this away from me because I don’t want to be Evil.

I only realized it was a gift that God gave me after He told me that he could take it away from me. But, one day, I might want it back. So that got me too thinking and put me on a different path of reprogramming my beliefs and discovery. I have been on this Spiritual Journey ever since. This journey is what led me to become a healer.

I hope you enjoyed my life’s journey and you found some comfort in my words. Warmest Wishes and May God Bless You on Your Journey!

Sincerely Dale – The Hillbilly Shaman

  7. Hello,

This article makes someone find closure in fear of death. Although death seems scary, people find it so because you get overwhelmed by uncertainty. But after reading this article, you understand that where one goes after death has beauty and love. We often think that death may be painful, but this article sheds some light on death being painless. Once we stop fearing death and understand that God plans it all, we will live free of fear and embrace his love even on earth.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

    • Hi Sergej,

I know that fear of death is something most people struggle with, and I can understand that. One of the biggest things I learned from my drowning experience is that God already has a time ordained for you, and if it’s not your time yet, HE will send you back. Thanks for stopping by, Sergej.

      Warmest Wishes!

  8. I lost my father 2 weeks ago, and your share of death experience makes me have a glimpse into what he could have felt like at the point of dying. While we were afraid of losing him, he kept saying, let me go. Death is another part of the cycle of life that we all must experience. I very much agree with you on the movement of spirits. They are real, and they move in our environments, but we cannot see them

    • Hi Parameter,

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your father. My heart goes out to you and your family. I can tell you that when I drowned, I felt more alive where I was than any other time in my life since I came back. Death is just another part of the cycle of life and not the ending. Thanks for stopping by, and I am sending Prayers for you and your family.

      Warmest Wishes!
